Different Skies - Post

Well this just sucks. It’s Tuesday the 23rd which means it’s time to get back to the ol’ day job.

While I don’t miss the sheer number of steps at Arcosanti, I do miss the people, the clean air, the activities, and of course the music.

Lessons learned from the 2007 Different Skies Festival.

  • Request the “up” rooms next year
  • Don’t take nearly as much gear
  • Fix the suspension in the car (or buy a new one)
  • Bring more frappuccinos
  • Build a smaller computer, or just bring a laptop

Welp that’s it… time to get ready to get back to the “real” world

Different Skies - Day Eight

OMG What a blast last night was. Aside from a major techinical meltdown (both Joe’s and my system crashed just before our newbie piece) it went swimmingly! Had a good turnout, lots of butts in the seats. Dinner was awesome, and now I can’t believe it’s over =( this is the suckage part. The stage was nearly emptied last night, and it looks so void this morning. well time to schlep the gear to the cars….

Different Skies - Day Seven

All I can say is wow, last nights run-through was sheer awesomesauce. It ran so perfectly it was amazing. Just to think about this, blows my mind. Tonight is the concert, I am all at once, excited as hell and terrified beyond belief. It’s been 15 years or so since I performed in front of a live audience…. eek!

Different Skies - Day Six

Well this morning we did some rehearsal, and tonight we’re going to do a full technical run-through the set for Ivan to set his levels and some automation on the PA system. We are going to rock the house! (in an ambient sort of way)

Different Skies - Day Five

Today is all about rehearsal, rehearsal rehearsal! I am still amazed at the talent that is surrounding me on stage. These guys hardly have to talk, they just intuitively know what to play on any given piece. I’m still kinda overwhelmed by it all… holy crap what have I gotten myself into!?!? I’m playing on like eleven different pieces

Different Skies - Day Four

Wow, these guys are amazing! Not only do we have the pieces proposed, we’ve even managed to sort out a tentative set list. The food is good, the environment is awesome, and I’m starting to get ideas!

Different Skies - Day Three

Well today was fun and exciting. Bill Fox & Brian Good arrived about midday and today was mostly technical setup, sending levels to the PA mixer and the SONGS!. Yup we’re finally getting to the music part of this trip, man there are some awesome pieces.

It’s so beautiful here, but my god there are a lot of steps

Different Skies - Day Two

Mmmm, good clean mountain air, it does a body good, just not my body =)

Yesterday was a blast. Doug Wellington and I were the first ones to arrive, shortly after that Darrell arrived and we began to unload gear and haul it to the stage. Then one-by-ones, twos & threes, the other began to arrive throughout the evening, with Mike & DK being the last ones to arrive lastnight. All we are missing now is Brian Good & Bill Fox

Different Skies - Day One

Well the travel time to Arcosanti was not bad at all, there was some slight traffic, but nothing to major. Now that I have been here at both Arcosanti & Different Skies, I can say this. I must slim down my rig!
